Dr Delendra (Del) Wijayanayaka
Bariatric & General Surgeon
Dr Wijayanayaka obtained his medical degree from the University of Auckland. He was selected to the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS) General Surgery training program, and worked across many New Zealand hospitals throughout his training.
After completing General Surgery training at the end of 2019, Dr Wijayanayaka has undertaken several sub-specialist fellowships in New Zealand and Australia with a focus on Upper Gastrointestinal and Bariatric Surgery. He completed one of Australia’s only high-volume exclusive bariatric surgery fellowships, under the supervision of Dr George Hopkins at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital in 2022. In 2023 he pursued further post-fellowship training in advanced upper GI endoscopic techniques at Fiona Stanley Hospital in Perth.
Dr Wijayanayaka is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS) and a Member of the Australian & New Zealand Metabolic and Obesity Surgery Society (ANZMOSS) and the International Federation for the Surgery of Obesity and Metabolic Disorders (IFSO).
