About Dr Tim Warnock
I consider myself a North Queenslander. I have worked as a Consultant Paediatrician in Cairns since 1990 initially in my own private practice and as a visiting medical officer to both Cairns (Base) Hospital and Cairns Private Hospital (previously Calvary Hospital). I provided services in General Paediatrics and Neonatology.
I grew up in Babinda where my father, “Dr. Bob” was in General Practice from the late 1950’s. I followed in his footsteps completing medical school at the University of Queensland and did my specialist training in Brisbane, Sydney, King’s College Hospital in London, and Farnborough Hospital in Kent.
I earned my fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians – Division of Paediatrics and Child Health in 1988. Areas of training included Diabetes, Endocrinology, Neurology and Neonatology.
At this point in my career, I am looking forward to working part-time at Cairns Paediatrics on Barr Street, with no hospital or on-call commitments in a fresh working environment. I will have more time with my family, and for my main interests outside of medicine – photography, travel, and sport. I look forward to catching up both new and old patients.
My main medical focus will be Developmental and Behavioral Paediatrics and Adolescent Medicine including ASD and ADHD assessments and treatment. I will also remain active in advocating for the Paediatric workforce in rural and regional Australia.
